Testing a new treatment for systemic sclerosis skin hardening

Who can take part

  • You must have systemic sclerosis diagnosed by standard criteria, specifically the diffuse (widespread) type affecting large areas of skin
  • Your systemic sclerosis symptoms must have started within the last 5 years
  • If you take immune-suppressing medications, you must have been on the same stable dose for at least 1 month, and not started any new ones in the past 2 months
  • You cannot have other autoimmune diseases besides systemic sclerosis (such as lupus or dermatomyositis)
  • You cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You must not have active cancer, untreated infections (including HIV, hepatitis B or C, or tuberculosis), or severe uncontrolled medical conditions
