- Your child is between 5 and 18 years old
- Your child has acute appendicitis (inflamed appendix) without signs of rupture or serious complications
- Your child is in good health or has only mild health conditions that are well-controlled

- Your child can have laparoscopic surgery (a minimally invasive approach) and you consent to it
- Your child has not had major abdominal surgery before that would cause scar tissue (adhesions)
