Who can take part

  • Be between 65 and 85 years old
  • Have smaller-than-average calf muscles (less than 31.5 cm around for women, 33.5 cm for men)
  • Be able to stand up and sit down 5 times in 10 seconds or less (men) or 11 seconds or less (women)
  • Walk independently without help and not have serious heart or medical problems
  • Not have a pacemaker or severe heart disease
  • Score 26 or higher on a simple memory and thinking test
