If you are having a planned C-section with spinal anesthesia and meet other health requirements, this study might help reduce your risk of post-procedure headache.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are healthy except for being pregnant (ASA Physical Status II)
  • You are scheduled for a planned (elective) C-section with spinal anesthesia
  • You do not have a history of headache, mental illness, or stroke/brain blood vessel disease
  • You have not had an epidural for painless labor or other reasons
  • You are not taking opioids or other painkillers regularly
  • You do not have high blood pressure from pregnancy or diabetes
  • You are not allergic to lidocaine
  • Your spinal anesthesia works and has no complications
