Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 70 years old
  • You have an ASA physical status of I or II (generally healthy or mild health issues)
  • You are scheduled for elective (non-emergency) shoulder surgery
  • You do not have lung disease or problems with your diaphragm
  • You are not allergic to local anesthetics
  • You do not have a bleeding disorder, infection near the injection site, or nerve damage in the arm being operated on
  • You are not pregnant
