AI study to find extra root canals in lower premolars

Extra Canals

Part of Mouth & dental clinical trials.

This trial uses 3D X-ray scans (CBCT) to train an AI model to spot extra root canals in lower premolars, which can help dentists avoid missing them during root canal treatment.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You have had a CBCT scan of your lower back teeth (molars or premolars).
  • The scan covers only a small area (like one quarter of your mouth).
  • Your lower premolars are fully grown and have no major defects.
  • The scan has no blurry areas or metal artifacts that could block the view.
  • You have not had root canal treatment or posts in those premolars.

NCT07697378Not yet recruiting
AI study for better tooth root imaging

This trial uses a computer program to help classify and visualize a specific type of tooth root shape called C-shaped canals. If you are 18 or older and have had a CBCT scan of your teeth that shows this shape, the researchers may use your scan to improve the AI system.

NCT07587060Not yet recruiting
AI Analysis of Root Canal Curves in Back Teeth

This study tests a new artificial intelligence tool that analyzes dental scans to measure the shape and curves of root canals in lower back teeth. The AI could help dentists plan root canal treatments more accurately.

AI study to find missed root canals in treated lower back teeth

This study uses artificial intelligence and 3D dental imaging to check if any root canals were missed during previous root canal treatment on lower back teeth. It may help find hidden problems and guide better treatment.

NCT07056998Enrolling by invitation
AI detects root canal quality, then retreats if needed

This trial tests whether artificial intelligence can spot problems in root canal treatments seen on special X-rays (CBCT) compared to regular X-rays. If the AI finds an issue, a retreatment is done.

Root canal study using 3D scans

This study uses 3D dental scans to look for extra root canals in lower back teeth. It may help dentists treat tooth infections more effectively.

NCT06450938Not yet recruiting
AI detecting poor root canal work in dental students

This trial tests if an artificial intelligence tool can spot signs of failed root canal treatments on X-rays. Last-year dental students at the University of Copenhagen are asked to participate to see how the AI compares to their own reading.
