Reducing skin damage from central line dressings

Medical Adhesive Related Skin InjuryCentral Venous Catheter

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You need a central line (a special IV) placed into the internal jugular vein (in the neck).
  • The skin where the line goes in is healthy and has no rashes or other problems.
  • You do not have any known allergies to medical tape or barrier film used on the skin.
  • You do not have a condition that causes excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).
  • You are not in isolation for a contagious skin or lung infection.
