Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older, or if you are under 18, your hospital has not yet started recruiting children.
- You have or need a central line (PICC, tunneled catheter, non-tunneled catheter, or port).
- You do not currently have a bloodstream infection from any catheter, and have not had one in the last 7 to 14 days (depending on the part of the study).
- Your life expectancy is more than 30 days and you are not on an end-of-life care plan.
- If you have cancer or a blood disorder needing treatment, you may qualify for the cancer part of the study.
