Who can take part
- You are 18 years old or older.
- You have been referred for nerve testing (electrodiagnostic evaluation) on a hand that has not had surgery in the past.
- Your doctor has given you a CTS-6 score (a measure of carpal tunnel symptoms) that is less than 12.
- You do not have any condition that could change the temperature of your hand, such as infection, scar, arthritis, other nerve disease, uncontrolled diabetes or thyroid disease, stroke, or blood vessel disease.
- You do not have a hand deformity (like an amputation) that would prevent taking temperature images.
- You are not taking medications that affect the sympathetic nervous system, and you do not have severe tremors that make it hard to stay still.
