Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You are 37 weeks pregnant or more
  • You are planning to have a vaginal delivery
  • You are not taking calcium channel blockers (a type of blood pressure medicine)
  • You do not have severe preeclampsia (a pregnancy complication with high blood pressure) that is being treated with magnesium sulfate
  • You do not have chronic kidney failure with high phosphorus levels, parathyroid disease, or sarcoidosis
