Who can take part

  • You are having a liver transplant and have at least 3 of these risk factors: age over 60, male, obesity (BMI 30 or higher), smoking, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, MELD score over 22, COPD, moderate or large ascites, or sarcopenia (muscle loss).
  • You have not had a previous liver transplant or major surgery in the upper abdomen.
  • You have not had a previous hernia repair or have an umbilical hernia larger than 2 cm.
  • You are not currently taking steroids or other immunosuppressants before the transplant.
  • You are willing to participate and follow the study procedures.
