  • You are approved for weight-loss (bariatric) surgery
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 50 and 60
  • You are motivated to lose weight but have not been able to despite medical supervision
  • You do not have diabetes
  • You have not had weight-loss surgery before
  • You do not have severe heart or kidney disease, hard-to-treat reflux, or certain digestive conditions
