Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 84 years old.
  • Your tattoo is a single dark color (black, dark grey, dark blue, dark green, dark red, or puce – a brownish-purple).
  • Your tattoo is not larger than a standard piece of paper (A5 size, about 6 by 8 inches).
  • You have no history of keloids (raised scars) or hypertrophic scars.
  • You have no active skin infections or conditions where the tattoo is.
  • You are not taking any medications that make your skin sensitive to light.
