Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are scheduled to have a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) surgery
  • The surgery will remove a piece of skin at least 20 inches (50 cm) long and 8 inches (20 cm) wide
  • Your diabetes is well-controlled (no high insulin, no recent hospital stays for diabetes, no diabetic ulcers)
  • You are not pregnant or nursing
  • You do not have a history of abnormal scarring (like keloids)
  • You do not have large tattoos on your belly that could interfere with the study
