This study compares two pain-relief techniques (erector spinae plane block vs. caudal block) in children aged 1 to 7 years undergoing orchiopexy (surgery for an undescended testicle). Who can take part

  • Child is 1 to 7 years old
  • Child is having unilateral orchiopexy (surgery to fix an undescended testicle)
  • Child is in good overall health (ASA class I or II)
  • Child was not born prematurely (before 37 weeks)
  • Child has no bleeding disorders or tendency to bleed
  • Child has no infection, inflammation, or skin problem at the injection site
  • Child has no significant heart or lung disease
  • Child has no liver or kidney problems
  • Child is not allergic to local anesthetics (like bupivacaine or lidocaine)
  • Child has no developmental delay or cognitive impairment affecting pain assessment
  • No other regional pain blocks (like caudal block) will be used during surgery
  • No block failure or major complications during surgery
  • Parent or guardian provides consent
