Who can take part

  • You have lumbosacral radiculopathy (nerve pain from the lower back into your leg).
  • You have a positive straight leg raise or slump test (nerve tension sign).
  • Your symptoms are acute or subacute (less than 3 months).
  • You do not have spondylolisthesis (a slipped vertebra).
  • You have not had prior spinal surgery.
  • You do not have 'red flags' (e.g., cauda equina symptoms, cancer, or infection).
  • You have pain with movement that changes your symptoms (mechanical response).
