Who can take part

  • You are having surgery to decompress a nerve in your spine at one level.
  • You are between 20 and 65 years old, or between 65 and 85 years old.
  • You are willing to take part in the study.
  • You do not have cancer that is currently being treated.
  • You do not have other spine diseases like ankylosing spondylitis or a recent spine fracture.
  • You do not have a dependence on opioids or other substances.
