Pulsed field ablation for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation
Part of Heart & circulation clinical trials.
This study tests a special catheter that uses pulsed field energy to ablate (destroy) the tiny areas in the heart causing irregular heartbeats. It is designed for people with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (episodes that come and go) that hasn't been controlled by medication.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 75 years old.
- You have been diagnosed with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (episodes that come and go, lasting less than 7 days) and your symptoms continue despite taking medication.
- Your doctor has recommended a catheter ablation procedure for your atrial fibrillation.
- You have not had prior ablation or surgery on your upper heart chambers (atria), except for certain procedures like flutter ablation.
- You do not have severe heart conditions like enlarged left atrium, severe valve disease, heart failure, or a device like a pacemaker.

This study tests a new way to treat atrial fibrillation (AFib) using pulsed electrical energy to target the heart tissue that causes the irregular rhythm. It aims to see if this method is safe and effective for people having their first such treatment.
This trial studies a new procedure called pulsed field ablation to treat brief episodes of atrial fibrillation (AFib). The goal is to see if it can help reset the heart's natural electrical system and reduce symptoms.
This trial tests a newer ablation technique called pulsed field ablation to treat atrial fibrillation, a heart rhythm disorder. The goal is to see if this method works well and is safe for patients who need treatment.
This study tests a new way to do a heart procedure (catheter ablation) for people with ongoing atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat). It uses pulsed-field energy to create a block in the heart that stops abnormal electrical signals. The goal is to improve the procedure's success and reduce risks.
This study tests a newer, gentler way to fix irregular heartbeats in people with paroxysmal AF. The treatment uses special energy (pulsed fields) guided by 3D imaging to target the heart tissue causing the problem, and the goal is to restore a normal rhythm with fewer risks.
This trial tests a new way to treat non-paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) using a focused type of ablation (pulsed-field energy) on specific areas of the heart. It aims to see if targeting the left atrial wall and mitral isthmus can improve outcomes for people who have not had this procedure before.
