Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have HIV, confirmed by standard blood test results (ELISA and Western blot).
  • You were previously enrolled in one of two specific NIH studies, or you are already followed at NIH long-term and have stored samples that can be used.
  • You must have stored samples taken before you started HIV treatment, if available.
  • Your viral level (HIV “copies”) should be well controlled (under 50 copies/mL), OR it was under 50 copies/mL and later rose again while on treatment.
  • You have a private physician who handles your usual ongoing medical care. (The study may still use additional study visits/sampling.)
