Who can take part

  • Be 40 years or older when you join the study
  • Have COPD-type breathing test results, with FEV1/FVC ratio under 0.70
  • Be able and willing to sign written informed consent
  • Do not have a history of asthma, bronchiectasis, or lung cancer
  • Not be taking medicines that suppress the immune system, and not have active cancer
  • Not be on long-term steroid tablets or long-term steroid treatment
