Who can take part
- Be 40 years or older when you join the study
- Have COPD-type breathing test results, with FEV1/FVC ratio under 0.70
- Be able and willing to sign written informed consent
- Do not have a history of asthma, bronchiectasis, or lung cancer
- Not be taking medicines that suppress the immune system, and not have active cancer
- Not be on long-term steroid tablets or long-term steroid treatment
