Who can take part
- You are 40 years or older.
- You have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or doctors strongly suspect it based on your symptoms and risk factors like smoking.
- You are currently having a severe COPD flare-up, meaning your breathing is much worse than usual and you may have high carbon dioxide levels in your blood.
- You have been admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU), step-down unit, or respiratory care unit for this flare-up.
- You do not have known asthma (as defined by standard guidelines).
