Who can take part
- You can sign a written consent form and follow study visits and tests.
- You are a woman age 18 to 70, and if you can become pregnant you must have a negative pregnancy test and use approved birth control during treatment and for 12 weeks after.
- Your cervical cancer is stage IB2 to IVA, and it is smaller than 2 cm, with or without nearby para-aortic lymph nodes.
- Your biopsy confirms a specific type of cervical cancer (squamous, adenosquamous, adenocarcinoma, or “glassy cells”).
- You have not had treatment before, and you must be medically able to receive gemcitabine.
- Your kidneys are weaker than average (measured kidney filtration rate under 60), and your blood counts, liver tests, and chest X-ray are within required limits.
