Who can take part
- Be age 18 or older and have newly diagnosed advanced cervical cancer (stage III to IVA).
- Plan to receive definitive chemoradiation, including brachytherapy (radiation treatment with an internal component).
- Your overall health and daily function should be fairly good (ECOG 0–2).
- Your blood counts and organ tests must be high enough: neutrophils, platelets, hemoglobin (8+ allowed with transfusion), and acceptable liver/kidney function.
- Your diabetes must not be poorly controlled (fasting blood sugar must be 200 mg/dL or less).
- You cannot have had prior pelvic radiation or be taking another investigational cancer drug.
