Who can take part
- Your cancer must be confirmed as esophageal or stomach adenocarcinoma by biopsy or FNA (sample taken from tissue).
- You need staging scans (EGD scope and PET/CT) to check how many places the cancer has spread.
- You must have 3 or fewer visible metastatic spots on scans (and certain types of lymph nodes count as one spot).
- You must be age 18–79 and able to consent; women who could become pregnant must have a negative pregnancy test and use reliable birth control during the study and for 6 months after.
- Your health status must be good enough (ECOG 0–2) and you should have an expected survival of at least 6 months.
- You should not have had prior chemotherapy or definitive radiation to your current cancer before starting this study (palliative radiation to symptom-causing spots may be allowed).
