This study tests whether using a pacifier can help correct common misalignments in young children’s baby teeth and bite. It may help children whose upper and lower teeth don’t meet properly, with or without tongue thrust.

Who can take part
- Your child has been using a pacifier and/or baby bottle for at least 6 months
- A dentist has noticed a bite issue such as posterior crossbite (teeth don’t line up from the back)
- A dentist has noticed an open bite (overbite is zero or negative, or teeth meet edge-to-edge)
- Your child should not suck thumbs, fingers, or other objects instead of (or along with) the pacifier
- Your child should not have cleft or genetic (syndromic) conditions, facial injury, or jaw/face infections
- Your child has not had orthodontic treatment recently and should not have teeth that are stuck after trauma
