Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 79 years old
- Your ascending aorta is about 5.0 to 5.4 cm wide on a CT scan with contrast (or it may qualify once it reaches 5.0 cm)
- You are able and willing to be randomly assigned to either surgery or monitoring
- You can attend regular follow-up visits and complete the study imaging schedule
- You have not had previous heart (cardiac) surgery, and your main planned surgery would be for the ascending aorta problem
