Who can take part

  • You have an ascending aortic aneurysm that needs surgery.
  • You are over 18 years old.
  • You have agreed to take part in the study.
  • You will have an ultrasound before surgery to check your heart valve type (bicuspid or tricuspid).
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or in labor.
  • You do not have uncontrolled inflammation, autoimmune disease, recent infection, or genetic aneurysm conditions like Marfan syndrome.
