This trial studies injecting your own platelet-rich plasma into the eye to help a persistent corneal surface defect heal. It may help if you have a recurring or nerve-related corneal ulcer, but it’s not for certain ulcer types or active eye infections.

Who can take part

  • You have a persistent (not healing) corneal surface defect.
  • You have at least one qualifying problem: recurrent corneal epithelial defects, neurotrophic corneal ulcers, or nerve-related corneal damage from another condition (like diabetes, herpes infections, nerve problems, burns, injury, surgery, chronic dry eye, or some nerve diseases).
  • Your ulcer is not a peripheral ulcerative keratitis or Mooren’s ulcer.
  • You do not currently have an active infectious keratitis (an active eye infection) or an active infected ulcer.
  • You must be available for the trial’s treatment and follow-up visits as required by the study team.
