Who can take part

  • You have neurotrophic keratopathy, confirmed by low corneal sensitivity testing (≤ 3 cm on an esthesiometer).
  • You currently have corneal erosions (areas of the cornea that keep breaking down).
  • Your condition is caused by one of these: diabetes, herpes-related eye infection, other infections that left scars, limbal stem cell problems, or certain chemical/thermal burns or injuries, with recovery time of at least 3 months.
  • If your eye problem was due to surgery or injury, it must have happened at least 3 months before starting the trial.
  • You are not pregnant and can take part without needing to be considered “homeless” or a “migrant” for study purposes.

Eye Drop for Nerve-Damaged Corneas

This trial tests an experimental eye drop (STSP-0902) for a condition called neurotrophic keratitis, where the cornea (the clear front part of the eye) gets scratches or sores because nerves are damaged.
