Step-up and step-down treatment for newly diagnosed arthritis

This Phase 3 study tests whether children with early juvenile idiopathic arthritis do better by starting with one treatment approach and adjusting (stepping up or stepping down) based on how their arthritis responds. Who can take part

  • Your child is 2 to 17 years old and has newly diagnosed juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).
  • Your child has active arthritis started within the last 6 months.
  • Your child has not started any disease-targeting arthritis medicines (no synthetic or biologic DMARDs) yet.
  • They fit one of these JIA types: limited/oligoarthritis or rheumatoid-factor negative polyarthritis.
  • They can follow study visits and procedures, and you (and your child if appropriate) can sign consent/assent.
