Who can take part

  • Be at least 18 years old and speak/read English
  • Be a patient of the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Dental School
  • Have 1st or 2nd molar teeth that need to be moved forward at least 5 mm (and the teeth are not next to each other)
  • Have healthy gums and no cavities or infected tooth areas around the teeth being moved
  • Not plan to need fillings or other restorative dental work on the teeth being treated during the study
