Who can take part
- You are pregnant and 16 years or older at the time you’re enrolled
- You must have a pregnancy that is expected to continue (viable pregnancy)
- You are planning an elective cesarean, or you’re being induced and expect to stay in the hospital over 24 hours
- Or you have a specific pregnancy or postpartum complication tied to fluid changes, like pre-eclampsia, severe vomiting (hyperemesis), or major postpartum bleeding
- You can give consent, and you can speak and read English well enough for the study
- You do not have a pacemaker or defibrillator
