Test MRI/ultrasound to measure heart stiffness in older heart failure

This study checks whether a noninvasive imaging test can measure how stiff (stiffness) your heart muscle is in older people with certain types of heart failure. It may help doctors better diagnose and sort out the type of heart failure using your scan results.

Who can take part

  • You were hospitalized in cardiology for sudden lung fluid/swelling (acute pulmonary edema) from heart failure
  • Your blood test showed BNP (type B) at 35 pg/mL or higher
  • An echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) showed structural heart changes
  • You have preserved or reduced pumping function: LVEF 50% or higher, or 40–49%, or under 40%
  • You do not have other major lung problems or other major heart diseases
