Who can take part

  • You’re older than 40 and can understand English well enough to consent and fill out forms
  • You have low back pain on at least one or both sides for at least 2 months, with pain around 4/10 or higher
  • You tried at least 6 weeks of physical therapy and oral (by mouth) pain medicine but still didn’t get enough relief
  • Two targeted back “numbing blocks” helped a lot (about 80% better) for each of two consecutive tests
  • You can safely attend all study follow-up visits and follow instructions
  • You do not have certain other back problems or recent injections that would make this unsafe
