Who can take part
- You are assigned female at birth and are 18 or older
- Your core needle biopsy shows invasive breast cancer or DCIS, and the tumor is 5 cm or smaller
- Your pre-surgery armpit (axillary) check is negative on exam and ultrasound, and (for stage 2) your PET is low (SUV less than 0.27)
- You must be able to have the planned armpit surgery and pathology tests, and be able to come for follow-up
- You should not have had chemo or other neoadjuvant (pre-surgery) treatment for this cancer, and you should not have distant metastases
- You must not be pregnant or breastfeeding, and you should not have uncontrolled diabetes or a tracer allergy
