- You are between 18 and 75 years old.
- You have a type of rectal cancer called adenocarcinoma, confirmed by a biopsy.
- The tumor is in the lower part of the rectum (within 4 cm of the anus) and is 3 cm or smaller.
- The tumor has not spread to lymph nodes or other parts of the body (stage T2N0M0).
- You have not had prior treatment for rectal cancer, like radiation or chemotherapy.
