Who can take part

  • Be age 22 to 80
  • Have long-lasting (at least 2 years) severe pain that has not responded to typical treatments
  • In the last 30 days, your pain score is usually above 6 out of 10 and varies by at least 3 points
  • Have tried at least two different classes of pain medicines without enough relief (with stable doses for 30 days)
  • Have no surgically fixable cause for the pain and meet the study’s pain-nerve “biomarker” or trial-stimulation response step, if done
  • Be able to read/speak English, understand consent, and have no major memory/thinking problems (MoCA 25 or higher)
