IVIG for small fiber nerve pain with specific antibody tests
Part of Brain & nervous system clinical trials.
This trial studies whether IVIG (an immune therapy made from donated antibodies) can reduce pain from autoimmune small fiber neuropathy. You may be a candidate if your tests show certain autoantibodies (TS-HDS, FGFR3, or Plexin-D1) and your symptom scores are high enough.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have proof of small fiber neuropathy from a skin biopsy within the last 12 months (or be willing to repeat it for the study)
- Have abnormal antibody test results for TS-HDS, FGFR3, or Plexin-D1 within the last 12 months
- Have baseline nerve pain of at least 4 out of 10 on a pain scale, and other nerve symptom scores of at least 4 out of 10
- Be female who is not pregnant or breastfeeding, and agree to use 2 forms of birth control or avoid heterosexual sex during treatment
- Be able to take part safely in a study visit and follow the study plan (and understand it)

This trial tests if IVIG (intravenous immunoglobulin, a treatment that helps the immune system) can reduce pain in people with small fiber nerve damage or sensory neuronopathy. You may qualify if you have had moderate to severe nerve pain for at least 4 weeks and other conditions have been ruled out.
This trial tests whether a combination of three immune-suppressing drugs (IVIg, cyclophosphamide, and methylprednisolone) given early can improve balance and sensation in people with a rare nerve condition caused by anti-Hu antibodies. The goal is to stop or slow the nerve damage before it gets worse.
This study tests whether giving immune globulin under the skin (SCIG) can help people with newly diagnosed CIDP. It may help improve muscle strength and nerve symptoms while avoiding the need for earlier IVIG/SCIG treatment.
This trial tests intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), a donated antibody treatment, for people whose gastrointestinal (GI) “motor” symptoms are not improving with standard care and may be auto-immune related. If you’re eligible, IVIG could help calm the immune system and improve gut movement symptoms.
This trial tests a medication called efgartigimod that may help people with Sjogren's disease who have nerve damage causing numbness, tingling, or weakness. The drug works by blocking certain antibodies that are thought to attack the nerves. It aims to improve nerve symptoms and quality of life.
This study tests a new intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) treatment called KIg10 (QIVIGY) for people with chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP). It aims to see if this treatment can help manage symptoms and maintain stability.
