Who can take part

  • Be 18 years old or older
  • Be admitted to the heart ICU (CVICU) after heart surgery like CABG and/or valve repair or replacement
  • Have your heart surgery done through a breastbone incision (median sternotomy)
  • Have a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or less
  • Be willing to sign consent to join the study
  • Not have had a lung transplant (now or in the past)
