Who can take part
- You have had coronary artery bypass and/or valve repair or replacement surgery
- Before surgery, you had at least 2 risk factors for lung problems (such as age 70+, diabetes, smoking history, COPD, or BMI 27 or higher)
- Or within 12 hours after surgery, you have mild to moderate breathing difficulties
- You are not currently on a breathing machine for more than 24 hours after surgery
- You do not have a pacemaker or defibrillator
- You do not have a collapsed lung or air leak from a chest tube
