Who can take part

  • Your child has a distal radius fracture near the wrist that overlaps (overriding metaphyseal fracture).
  • Your child’s growth plates are still open (an “open epiphysis”).
  • There may also be an ulna fracture, but not both forearms at the same time.
  • The fracture is in a single forearm (not injuries to both forearms).
  • The open fracture type must not be a more severe (Gustillo-Anderson grade II or III) injury.
  • Your child has no nerve or blood-vessel injury in the affected arm and no major other injuries.
