Who can take part

  • Your baby was born after 35 weeks of pregnancy
  • Your baby has jaundice confirmed by a bilirubin test (a skin or blood measurement)
  • Your baby’s jaundice level is high enough to need light treatment (phototherapy), based on standard guidelines
  • Your baby weighs at least 2.5 kg
  • Your baby has no serious signs at birth that make them too unwell (for example, breathing problems or other major complications)
  • Your baby has no certain blood-type problems (rhesus or Kell incompatibility)
