Who can take part

  • You are age 40 or older and were admitted to the University of Illinois Hospital for COVID-19
  • Your COVID-19 swab test was positive within the last 72 hours
  • You have COVID symptoms like fever, cough, trouble breathing, or fast breathing
  • You need extra oxygen through a nasal tube at 1–5 liters per minute to keep oxygen levels above 92%
  • You can provide consent and agree to store samples for future testing
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
