Adjusting beta-blocker dose for women using a wearable defibrillator

This trial checks whether doctors can use a lower or adjusted dose of beta-blocker medicine in women who are wearing a wearable defibrillator (WCD). It aims to find an approach that’s safe and works while you’re using the device for about 3 months to protect your heart.

Who can take part

  • You are a woman, age 18 or older
  • You were newly diagnosed with heart muscle weakness (cardiomyopathy) and it’s not from a recent hospital stay for heart failure
  • Your heart pumping strength (EF) is 35% or lower at the time you get the WCD
  • You were prescribed the wearable defibrillator for about 90 days (about 76–104 days)
  • You’ve worn the WCD for no more than 14 days so far
  • You can’t have certain heart rhythm/implant situations (like permanent atrial fibrillation, a pacemaker, or a prior implanted defibrillator)
