Who can take part

  • Be age 18 or older
  • Have cirrhosis and be seen at Mercy Medical Center’s hepatology clinic between 09/2020 and 07/2021
  • Have no hepatitis B protection (anti-HBs blood test result under 10 mIU/mL)
  • Have never been exposed to hepatitis B before
  • Do not have a history of a serious allergic reaction to a hepatitis B vaccine, its ingredients, or yeast
  • Not be a post–liver transplant patient
