Who can take part
- You are 18 years old or older
- You previously had head and neck cancer treated with radiation
- You are currently scheduled for transoral robotic surgery (robot-assisted surgery through the mouth) for a cancer that is persistent, recurrent, or a new primary in the upper throat/voice box area
- The robot surgery must be part of treatment, not just diagnosis
- Your cancer type is not nasopharyngeal (behind the nose) or thyroid cancer
- There must be tissue samples available for researchers to study from the recurrent or residual tumor
