Who can take part

  • You’re 18–75 years old and you have HIV infection.
  • Your HIV treatment is stable (you’re on HIV medicines without planning to change them, or you’re not on them with no near-term plan to start).
  • Your recent immune test (CD4 count) is at least 200.
  • You smoke at least 5 cigarettes per day and want to quit within the next month.
  • You can safely take varenicline and are willing to attend 8 in-person visits plus a check-in 6 months later.
