Red light cap for scar-forming hair loss in women

Central Centrifugal Cicatricial Alopecia

This pilot study tests an “all LED” red light cap to treat central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia (CCCA), a type of scarring hair loss. If you’re a woman with confirmed CCCA at Stage II–III and stable treatment, the study may help see whether red light can improve your hair loss without changing your current plan.

Who can take part

  • Be a woman (18 years or older)
  • Have a confirmed CCCA diagnosis based on a skin biopsy, Stage II or III
  • Have had stable hair-loss treatment for at least 3 months (no dose/type changes)
  • Examples of stable treatments may include doxycycline, topical steroids, minoxidil, and/or injected (intralesional) steroid treatments
  • Only join if your hair loss is only CCCA (not another type) and you have not used a light source for alopecia before
