Who can take part

  • Be older than 18 years
  • Be hospitalized in the ICU with sepsis for at least 24 hours
  • A patient or a family member/trusted helper can sign consent (especially if it’s an emergency)
  • Not be under court-ordered protection/guardianship
  • Not have severe agitation, brain death, or have life-sustaining treatment being actively limited
  • No history of cochlear implant, heart disease, or asthma
