- You have septic shock, with a systolic blood pressure under 90 even after fluids
- You have not had a vagus nerve surgery called vagotomy
- You have not had a heart attack or stroke in the past year
- You do not have certain serious heart rhythm or wiring problems (or no pacemaker for the specified condition)
- You do not have recurrent fainting due to vasovagal episodes
- You are not pregnant
